Gallagher is one of the largest global insurance brokers and risk management firms, with particular strength in middle-market commercial insurance, employee benefits brokerage and consulting, and reinsurance. Founded in 1927 in Chicago, where it is still headquartered, the company has been one of the most acquisitive players in the insurance brokerage industry — completing more than 700 acquisitions in its history. Gallagher's pending acquisition of AssuredPartners (announced in 2024) would significantly expand its U.S. middle-market brokerage footprint.
